OCTOBERFEST 2016 We are proud to report that plans are underway for the Eleventh Annual Octoberfest Fair! Over the past eleven years, with your help, over $550,000 has been raised to help the “Jewel of Delaware County” shine more brightly. Again we are looking to the parish community to make the 12th Annual Octoberfest a success. NOVENA TO OUR LADY, UNDOER OF KNOTS To commemorate the one year anniversary of Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia, the Parish Council has asked Father Murphy to conduct the Novena to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots. The novena will take place for nine consecutive days beginning September 20 and ending September 28, the Feast Day of Our Lady. Prior to the novena, we will be collecting your prayer intentions which will be placed on Mary’s Altar during the novena. You will be able to write your prayer intentions the weekends of September 10-11 and September 17-18. Anyone wishing to write an intention will find the materials needed at the Church entrance on Township Line Road. When writing your prayer intention, please follow these instructions: 1. Please take a cloth strip from the clear plastic box and clearly print your prayer intention. 2. Place your intention in the clear box with the cut-out lid. 3. Say the Novena Prayer for your intention and the intentions of others. Members of the Parish Council will tie all intentions to wire wreaths which will be placed on Mary’s Altar during Saint Dorothy’s Novena to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots.

MARY - A BIBLICAL WALK WITH THE BLESSED MOTHER Join us September 22nd through November 17th, on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30. We will gather in the Library which can be found on the lower level of St. Dorothy Church in the Annex. The Bible Study will not take place on the Thursday of Oktoberfest or the week of the Book Fair. The cost is $15 per person, which should be paid on the first night either by cash or check. This Bible Study is filmed on location in the Holy Land. It visits the most significant places in Mary’s life taking you though her joys and sorrows. Dr. Edward Sri provides expert commentary and unique insights on the Blessed Mother. We will receive a workbook which will give us Bible selections to read at home and questions to answer. We will discuss our responses in a small group setting and then watch a 30 minute video related to the Bible passages we have read, and review the answers to the questions as contained in the back of the workbook. AID FOR FRIENDS Aid for Friends is in need of a Volunteer Evaluator for Delaware County to assess the needs of individuals who would like to receive meals. This task involves receiving referrals and visiting the referred person in their home to assess their needs, then either approving or rejecting their eligibility to become an AFF client/friend based on our criteria. You can do the assessments on your own schedule. We provide training, and Aid for Friends staff is always available to you. Also you pick the area or township that you feel comfortable serving. HELP DOCUMENT CATHOLIC HISTORY With the endorsement of Archbishop Chaput, History Making Productions (HMP) is producing a series called Urban Trinity: The Story of Catholic Philadelphia which will be broadcast on our local ABC affiliate during the week of the World Meeting of Families - Philadelphia.
