Alphabetical Program Guide
ALTAR SERVERS Girls and boys of the parish in 7th and 8th grades who assist at the altar for Eucharistic and other Liturgical celebrations.
ALTAR SOCIETY Parish volunteers who care for the vestments, altar linens, decorations, and environment of the Church.
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Promotes, sponsors and directs a variety of sports (varsity, junior varsity, and intramural) for young parishioners in grades 4 through 8.
CANTORS Teenagers and adults of the parish who facilitate the musical dimension of our Liturgical celebrations by leading the worshipping community in song.
CHILDREN”S CHOIR Youngsters of the parish (grade levels 2 through 8) who sing at Church Liturgies on a regular basis.
CHOIR Teenagers and adults who accompany liturgical and Para liturgical celebrations on a regular basis. CLOTHING DRIVE Volunteers who assist with the semi-annual St. Vincent de Paul Society collection of clothing for the needy in the Archdiocese.
COMMUNITY FOOD DISTRIBUTION Volunteers who assist in packaging and delivering collected non-perishable food goods for the hungry and needy within the parish and the jurisdiction of the Catholic Social Services for Delaware County.
ECUMENISM Parishioners interested in participating in Archdiocesan programs to foster relationships with other local faith communities.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS Parish members who assist with the distribution of Communion at Liturgy and bring the Eucharist to shut-ins.
EVANGELIZATION COMMITTEE A group of parishioners devoted to the development and implementation of ways to spread the Gospel Message with the parish community.
FAMILY LIFE A committee devoted to prompting care and respect for human life in all its forms: family, the disabled, the unborn, the aged, the persecuted.
FINANCE COMMITTEE Parishioners who counsel the pastor regarding fiscal matters of the parish.
FORENSICS A program open to young parishioners (grade levels 7 and 8), which seeks to develop a child’s appreciation of literature and to instill personal confidence through public speaking.
GREETERS Teenagers and adults who welcome their fellow parishioners at the entrances to Church before each of our weekend Eucharistic celebrations.
HEALTH CABINET An advisory board to the Parish Nurse which surfaces the health related needs of our parishioners establishes priorities and suggests approaches to meeting needs.
HOME AND SCHOOL An association of parish school parents dedicated to aiding and supporting the goals of academic excellence and active Catholicism.
H.O.P.E. A volunteer organization formed to Help Our People in Emergency situations by providing transportation and running errands.
HOSPITALITY Parish volunteers who set up and serve coffee and donuts after the 10:00 Sunday Mass once a month and make home visits to welcome new parishioners.
LANDINGS Parishioners who facilitate the return to the Church of those who, for various reasons, have gotten away from practicing their faith.
LECTORS Those who minister to the parish community by proclaiming the Word of God at the celebration of Liturgy.
LITURGY COMMITTEE An advisory board to the Director of Liturgy and Music which studies and suggests effective ways to enhance the Worship Life of the Parish.
PARISH NURSE MINISTRY Parishioners who volunteer their time and talent to assist the parish nurse in meeting the health related needs of our parishioners.
PASTORAL COUNCIL An Advisory Board commissioned to surface and study the various strengths, weaknesses and needs of the parish and to make referrals for action to the appropriate parish organizations.
PRAYER COMMUNITY Parishioners who gather weekly for Charismatic Praise and Faith Sharing.
PRE-CANA Married couples of the parish who prepare engaged couples for the Sacrament of Matrimony. A day-long workshop is offered in the fall and the spring each year.
PRE-JORDAN Parents who present an instructional session once a month on the Sacrament of Baptism and the spiritual responsibilities of parenting. Those who are having their first child baptized are required to attend.
RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is open to those considering entering into the Catholic Church as well as to those who wish to expand their understanding of the Faith. Members of the parish serve as sponsors for potential candidates.
RECTORY VOLUNTEERS Parishioners who offer their time and talent to assist with clerical and receptionist tasks associated with the administration of the parish.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) offers instruction and formation in the Catholic Faith to youngsters attending public schools. Our program extends from k through 8th grade.
SCHOOL St. Dorothy Parish School offers a complete accredited educational program for youngsters from 5 through 8th grade
SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS Parents of school children supporting in a variety of ways our educational program by serving as lunch monitors, classroom aides, and clerical assistants.
SCOUTING “Cubs” for boys and “Brownies” for girls grades 1 through 4.
SOCIAL CLUB An organization which provides a variety of interesting and worthwhile activities for men and women over 50 years of age and for their friends and neighbors regardless of their religious affiliations.
USHERS Teenage and adult volunteers who assist at Liturgy by seating parishioners and collecting the Offertory Gift.
WEDDING CONSULTANTS Parishioners who conduct ceremony practice with wedding parties prior to the marriage.
YOUTH GROUP An organization for high school age parishioners who whish to participate I a variety of activities in one or more of the following areas; spiritual, cultural, service, social, athletic.
