As a long time track and field coach at St. Dorothy School, Mr. Joe
McEntee emphasized sportsmanship, teamwork, effort and a positive
attitude, both on the field and in the classroom. He valued these traits
above excellence and achievement.
Shortly after the untimely passing of Mr. McEntee in January 2002, an
award was established by Saint Dorothy's Athletic Association
recognizing the attributes that Mr. McEntee found to be most important.
The criteria for selection requires that the student be in 8th grade,
participate in 2 or more varsity sports and be nominated by their coach.
From this pool, the 8th grade teachers choose one boy and one girl from
amongst the candidates.
