St. Dorothy Parish - Drexel Hill

The following are requirements that need to be met in order to coach at St. Dorothy.

Coaches Requirements

Under federal guidelines, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia mandates that every employee and volunteer who is involved in an activity in which children are present is required to undergo a State Police criminal background check, child welfare abuse screen, and attend a child abuse awareness workshop entitled Protecting God's Children. You may download the police criminal background check form HERE and the child welfare abuse screening form HERE.

The criminal background check can also be completed online at by clicking HERE. The site accepts credit cards and your results should be returned right away.


Please complete these forms and return in an envelope marked 'Criminal Record' as soon as possible to the rectory or school. The parish is paying the $10 fee for each form. If you would like to donate money to cover the expense of these forms, a check payable to St. Dorothy Church or cash is more than welcome.

The results of the criminal record check will be mailed directly to the rectory; however, the child welfare abuse screen will be mailed to your home. Please forward this document to the rectory or school as soon as possible.

If you have these forms completed through work or another organization, please provide the rectory or school with a copy of the processed forms.

All coaches & volunteers that have any contact with children and who have not already attended a "Protecting God's Children" workshop, must attend. To register for a local child abuse awareness workshop, go to www.virtus.org. If you do not have internet access, you may call our Archdiocesan Virtus coordinator at (215) 587-2466.

Coaches are required to attend the CYO Coaches Orientation prior to their second year of coaching. A schedule of upcoming seminars will be available on this page soon.
